Candace just threw this at me and informed me that I need to pay better attention to the world. She also informed me that she didn't bother to get me a Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes one because I apparently wouldn't appreciate it.

I'm assuming that she had something specific in mind. So. Hello Susan. I have absolutely no idea about flowers, I'm afraid, beyond what I learned in Herbology, and that was quite a while ago. I am certain that you will pick well - how could you not? Either would be beautiful.

To the Weird Sisters:

I see you've met about half of Hogwarts in the past few days. I hope you are enjoying it, as the squealing on this end has been slightly ridiculous, and causing all sorts of trouble.

You do have some good music though, and I did enjoy your performance at the Yule Ball.

Good luck to all of you Quidditch players! I'm sure the game will be brilliant. 

I know it was in the Daily Prophet, but it was obscurely placed, and I know many of you have expressed dissatisfaction with the paper and may no longer be recieving it, so if you had missed the news, there will be a memorial service for Dumbledore here on the 13th of November.

I trust that all students will be on their best behaviour to reflect the dignity of Hogwarts School, particularly with the guests that we will no doubt have.

I would just like to remind everyone that pranking is unacceptable, and anyone who is found doing anything unreasonable will be punished.
And if it has already happened, we will find out, and you will be punished too.

While I am, of course, for the promotion of student safety, there are far more pressing concerns than the Giant Squid, who has until this point never hurt anyone. And there have been enough students in the lake, that if it wanted to have hurt them, it easily could have.

And I have to wonder what creatures they are refering to when they say 'invasions'. While indeed there was a troll in our first year, the werewolf in question worked for the school,  and was an excellent professor at that. What other 'creatures' might they be classifying as 'invasions'? Nifflers? Dragons? Foreign students? Unruly students? Muggleborn students?

Really, the whole thing is absurd. As a school for teenagers with magical abilities, could there ever have been any doubt that Hogwarts would be dangerous, creatures or not? 

Congratulations to everyone who made their Quidditch teams. It's great to see so many happy people. 

And for you who didn't, well, there's always next year. And I hear the competition was really fierce for spots this year, so don't feel bad. Besides, you at least had the courage and skill to try out. Some of us don't even have that. 

So great job everyone!
